I just got mine done today, 35% all the way around, the max here in NC(cost $225). He tried to do the hatch in one sheet, but had to many wrinkles. So He did it in 3 pcs and ran the edges along the defrost grid. Cant see the lines at all. I thought he did my 924 in one sheet, but he says he did it in 3 also and I never knew. Man he's good.

The tints with dye are typically cheaper, they Always turn purple and tend to be installed by people who won't be working at the same place in 6 months. Tint is just another one of those things in life where you get what you pay for.
As for UV protection, even 99% tint (blocks 1%) is 100% UV protective. I'm not sure if they make a clear - but it's worth finding out if you want to protect the interior and not have tinted windows.
In shopping around (still haven't decided if I want it or not), I've yet to find a place that'll do it for under $300 that I'd trust and with the products I choose. I also would likely stay around 50%.... more of a smoke look than limo tinting.

If possible stay with the same level of tint at the sides. The rear is a different story. Sungard just came out with a new line of product thats cats meoow. Stay away from ( cheap) dyed films they go purple with time. metalized films are best quality and will give a slightly reflective look. The refectivety determine the amount of solar rejection, so the shinier it is on the outside the cooler it is on the inside. Like with most things you get what you pay for.

I finally got mine done 2 weeks ago, it looks great. They also did mine with 3 pieces in the rear and the tiny seams are only visible when your very close. I'll take some pics tomorrow probably. It was 275 bucks, which isn't bad considering two other places wouldn't touch it for under 400...they just didn't want to cuz it's a challenge. But I'm very pleased with what I got.

All films block out UV. Its a function of the adhesive to keep the film from degrading. i just got a product update from my supplier, check out Sungard Euro line, latest thing apparently,

I actually like the tint on my car, it was done by the PO and it really does help to keep out the heat. My car had a new 89 interior put in it complete with the 10-speaker setup and so the dash looks great. I use a reflective sunshield to help out the windshield as well to help keep it that way. My car has 35% on the sides and rear in the mirror tint...

Someone asked the question about how long the tint would last. Here's my experience--I had an '86 Mazda B2000 that I had tinted when new. I drove it, gave it to my son, then he sold it to a friend of his. I saw the truck 3 weeks ago. Truck now has about 240,000 miles on it and the tint is still good. I then got a '93 Nissan pickup that I drove for 8 years and the tint stayed fine with the exception of the passenger window that started to delaminate. I had kept my "lifetime guarantee" paperwork so took it down and the place fixed it, no charge, no questions. I should say these were "professionally done." So, I think when installed correctly you should have no problems or worries about longevity.
