Post Carfax is BS!!!

Hello All,
I ran a Carfax report on my 951 just to see what comes up. It said "exceeds mechanical limits" in bold red print. Well...the last time I bounced off the rev limiter at 15psi boost, it sure as hell didn't feel like I'd exceeded any mechanical limits!!

If I were selling it over the internet, I'd think this would hurt my asking price big-time! Mileage was 129K on the carfax and I'm at 150K now. But when I ran the VIN from my old '85 VW GTI with 144K miles, it didn't say anything bad.

Tom, i'm not sure if you were joking or not about the exceeding mechanical limits, it is the odometer they are talking about though. My odo is 5 digit, so anything over 99,999 (aka rolling over) is "exceeding mechanical limits" Is the 87 odo 5 or 6 digits?

Why would Porsche not use a normal odometer to 999,999?

That's just weird.

carfax is BS. ran 3 cars two of them family cars and one prospective buy. all three came up clean. but we know that our ford taurus had its odometer rolled back once when the speedo was replaced before we bought it and again wehn the speedo failed again. the mileage was recorded & never hidden but there was no mention of this on carfax.

Luke, I think they must have access to motor vehicle administration databases or something. Probably some auto insurance databases too.
