I would rather have 30 hp over 5 lbs lol...

Speaking of weight loss, what's easy to do to an N/A for a little bit of weight? I'm thinking of yanking out the back seat (but I'll have an audio system soon, sub, amp etc so that will cancel out) And I want to take out the A/C soon too. How much does the ac system weigh and how much hp do you think it robs?

joe944 - ditch the mobile amusement park, i'm pretty sure none of the other cars at the track will have thuping bass anyway

gutting the interior and spending a whole lot of money on carbon fiber parts would save weight but in metro ny it would also change your class for autocrossing

I actually meant to say 5lbs per wheel... lol

Losing the back seat is the easiest weight loss. No offense intended here, but if you are planning on going crazy stereo-wise on an NA, then you probably aren't that into tracking the car, so I am not sure you will get that much bang for your buck on the whole "lightening" exercise. I would also seriously suggest you keep the A/C. Yes, its a quick loss of 40 lbs or so, but do you really want to go cruising with your *cool* tunes while sweating profusely?

Like I said, no offense intended... in all honesty, 944's, regardless of the type, have far more ability to be driven than most of their drivers. You might be best spending money making sure the suspension is up to factory spec (new stock bushings, decent struts) and spend a year or two doing DE's before you go crazy on modifying the car.

Regards, ...Scott

I wasn't planning on going crazy with audio, but a 10" sub with box and an amp are all I was planning on doing. Yes suspension mods are on the way too Anything that is going to cost $ has to wait until summer though when I am working more and have money saved up. At that time motor swap seems to be a pretty good option as well.

As far as the A/C goes... mine doesn't work right now anyways, and being in the bay area, california, it doesn't get very hot anyways unless i'm visiting friends in San Diego or Santa Barbara. Though Sac does get somewhat hot, I prefer to roll down the windows.

I can't wait for the day when I can convert this thing into a full track car hehehe.
