Manning, I got a real job so can't keep doing the wiring harness on a routine basis unless I go and hire someone to help. And we have nowhere near enough volume to do that. And finding a guy/gal that builds to my quality levels would always be an issue.

Get the Cibies from me so I can make the margin to help offset the expensive harness. That damn harness is the heart of the upgrade but you wouldn't believe how much the parts cost and the labor involved.

Besides, I have been told Aardvark is likely getting out of the Cibie business. Don't tell him this as it is probably out of school talk.

Iceshark, can you get the lamp housing with the city lights? And how well does it work with HID systems? I currently have the a set of Bosch with city lights.

marksportcts,

The city light version is no problem, those are laying all over the place. But we are going for *****-To-The-Wall performance, so never really thought to offer those. You lose some lighting due to engineering compromise.

You don't want to stick one of those Rube Goldburg HIDs in this lens. The lens is designed for a filament not an Arc HID. It is probably just as good as any other filament lens for that abortion, but you just don't want to do that. Get some purpose built lenses for HID. And open the wallet wide.

Hey Dan,

I know what you mean. I am a professional artist by training, but people can't figure out why I don't create art anymore. They don't seem to understand that having a "real" job cuts into your other interests (and robs you of inspiration sometimes).

I'll have to see if I can sneak the how package deal past my fiance. She'll kick me square in the nuts if she catches me spending too much on my car. For some reason she thinks maintaining the house should come first

In any case, if you are going to do harness I really want one of those, and tack on a voltage reg. too. I'll let you know in the next two days about the lenses.

I am not seeing how to pay. What do I do regarding paying you.

manning, you pay me by just sending a check!

I haven't been stiffed yet. Rennlisters are a different sort of animal. Honest jumps to mind. Just e-mail me at wraydan@msn.com. I'll send you my address for payment.

Leonel and everyone else. On around Wed or Thursday, I'm going to start a new thread and post a list of everyone that is in on the new build. That will be the time to scream hard and loud if I missed you. I think we are over halfway to getting 15 guys. That is the trigger and checks tell the story. Money talks, Bull$hit walks.

And then we are done until Fall, most likely.

Sorry, but back to the more important discussion... Yeah Sharky, terms don't really mean much when looking at the right bod- I personally like nice, tight, shapely, and full C-cups, but hey I'm probably in the minority here. The right bod will make me speechless every time And fortuantely, w/the pool at the back of my apartment building, I'm getting to see a LOT of them (and hang out with, and sometimes... well, nevermind...)

Iceshark, does anyone other than McCulloch make HID H4? Any that also have hi/low?

Bump...

How many do we have at this point? Has anyone cross posted this to the email list? If not I'm about to...

marksportcts, Yes. Take a look at Xenarc, an Osram/Sylvania joint venture with a few other outfits, depending on which lights you are looking at. Search here on Rennlist under my name and you will turn up a recent thread where I tell most of all I know about those lenses. The 7" rounds have a high beam in them, though I believe it is an H7 bulb, anyway it is not HID for the high, but there is a high.

About the only other thing to do at this point is get some of the Hella 90mm HID lenses and do a lot of mounting fabrication.

Either option is going to cost some serious coin.

You might want to try out a setup like what I'm offering, first. The results really are rather remarkable. The down side being bulb life is nowhere near as long as an HID capsule (3,000 hours) and you have quite the current draw, which is why we are monkeying around with wiring harnesses you would expect to see on some NASA project.

What are the chances you'll be offering this kit in the fall? I'd like to get a first hand look at one installed, i.e. ribs car, but that will not be for a while.

thanks

Mike B., Really can't say. The best way do describe this project is a hobby to help other 944 owners see great.

But I can tell you that every time I get done doing another build of wiring harnesses I promise myself to never do it again.
