Post power steering resivoir

has anyone ever opened up the power steering resevoir to find out what exactly is inside?

I haven't but I understand there's supposed to be a filter of some sort in there.

my pump is making noise when i turn the wheels and i was wondering if the filter inside can plug up?

The filter can clog up but I would first change the fluid and check the drive belt.

You can get a new reservoir sort of cheap as Bimmer uses the same one in many of their cars.

i found a new resivoir at thepartsbin.com for only $23.22. good prices there.
