Post power steering removal

who is most knowedgeable on the subject of removeing my 944 power steering and going all manual? thanks, don

There was someone who said he removed the pump, lines and fluid tank and just filled his rack with grease. He plugged the holes where the lines attached and went. I belive if you do it this way you have a different wheel to turn ratio but it seems like it could work. If you do it this way I would recommend removing the pressure relief valves inside the gear unit all together so no pressure builds up when turning.

Allong the lines of power steering, how bad is it just to take the PS belt off?

If you wanted to go the rout of manual steering you could always buy a used manual rack and then sell your power steering rack, pump and lines. You would probably get more $ for all your power stuff than you would have to pay for a manual rack.

I'm not the most knowledgable, but you will need a manual rack, the steering column extension (the one with the 2 U joints - may have to be made longer), and tie rod ends.
