For fiberglass (dunno about carbon fiber), polyester resin is cheaper than epoxy (about 1/2 the price?), and probably also less critical about getting the component proportions just right. It is weaker, tho'. Since the typical homegrown part is overengineered, it shouldn't be a problem. Use with real good ventilation.
