Muncie dragway has a hot street night on every 3 fridays for all the street cars to come race. They shut the tree off and hold the money up front usually have a flagger etc. It's really fun and no dispute over the money. Although everybody usually gets tanked up before the wet t shirt contest and things get out of control they also have a wheelie contest and burnout contest along with the titty contest. But as you know I race frequently. Later

A few weeks ago I was out buying beer and a really, really drunk teenager in the parking lot either wanted me to race his Jeep, or fight...couldn't really tell which. I ignored him.

Pro Tip for Today's Teens: If you're white, and from the suburbs of Kansas, trying to talk like a black gangster only makes you sound dorky, harmless and stupid. Especially to someone who's known real ones.

Other than that nobody's ever tried to race me either in my S or my WRX, that I know of(sometimes in the WRX it's hard to tell if a Civic, etc is racing you or not).

However, the track is a safer venue for racing:
1. All cars pass a tech inspection
2. All cars and drivers must have various forms of safety protection
3. There are no non-participants on the track!
4. Everyone has an understanding of what is going on
5. Most people on the track have a level head.

NONE of the above is typically present at a street race.

PS: Maybe some of you think I'm over the top with my bashing of street racers. I'm just hoping that if enough of us ridicule these guys they will feel not welcomed to post their crap here, and ultimately, they will stop street racing altogether.

I also will continue to point out that the people arguing in favor sound like a spoiled twelve year old i.e. "everyone is doing it!" etc.

And whatever money you make is likely:
A.less that wear and tear you are doing to your vehicle
B.Will not cover the cost of your funeral.

In all honesty I think any of the guys that have been here for a while KNEW this was gonna turn into a flame war.

Street racing is not accepted by most people here so please...talk about it somewhere else!

I hate these threads...HATE them. Reading about the utter 'stupidity' of some of the people street racing on this board makes me sad for the cars...why can't ALL Porsches have owners who deserve them?

The value of my car should be falling for some reason, why can't it be that all the other P-cars are being well-taken care of...

z-man is right, at the track if someone gets hit and killed atleast they wanted to be on the track. on the street that little lady walking to 711 never saw you coming.

once again i will point out that the person who started this thread has very few posts and most of them are related to street racing. i would like to make this my first complaint to john d. about this member (or should i say non-member since he isnt a paying member and when he isnt talking about racing he is selling something)

As a "future registered member" (barely affording the car ATM), I second the complaint...as long as he is going to continue posting about street racing. It's like he does it to spite everyone by posting on an issue we've all stated our position on time and time again because he knows it works us up. As for his product selling, I really don't have too much of a problem with people selling things or trying to...Travis is a good example (there are others, Iceshark...) of how to introduce a new product. Learn from their posts and we will be a more receptive community I am sure.

Some of you people shouldn't be driving fast cars. What's so hard to understand about street racing being dangerous. I can't belive there's actually people on this board defending it!

I've had my 944 for 5 years now and know a lot of little problems that can come up and how to fix them. I wasn't telling anyone to street race, I was just merely asking how many people get revved on when they're in their 944.

Hey all -

Racing on the street is nothing but dangerous.

Take it to the track. That's what really decides the men (and women) from the boys (and girls). Besides, though our cars are pretty fast, they are more well balanced and better handling cars than anything else.

Let's take these racing discussions to "General" or "Racing" or "Off Topic" - ok?

Thanks!

If you remember I was fired upon first. I really don't go after people. I wasn't even promoting street racing at all, until some jerko posted up some pics and starting putting me down. I think the person that originally started flaming me should be revoked as well, if you want to revoke me. It was not called for at all, what he did.

I cant recall EVER racing anyone on the street. I cant recall ever really having someone try to egg me on to race either. I think a lot of it has to do with how you are carrying yourself in the car at that moment.

In 99% of cases, people who want to race a Porsche are NOT driving Porsches. Most of these people are complete Briars. If you dont know what a Briar is, I'll explain it to you later. Basically people who mortgage their entire 1100sq foot home to buy a brand new Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am for $31,000 with every option on it and financed for 72 months so they are upside down forever and in debt forever, then a year later pull up to a stoplight in their now-depreciated $6,500 1yr old Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am and want to prove to themselves they have a fast car because they honestly would rather be sitting on your car if the truth be told, but what the hell, since they cant they might as well try to be the next coolest thing and thats someone whos going to pick on you.

Well I do remember one time a guy in a Mustang 5.0 convertible sort of egged me on at a light. I revved my engine like I was gung ho, then when the light changed let him tear *** and ruin $800 in rubber just to be cool for 1.3 seconds when all the hot women weren't looking in his direction anyway. I think an old fat lady waiting for the bus saw him so maybe she was impressed. I dont know.

If you are in a Porsche, theres nothing to prove. These bird brains aren't worth the 40 cents in gas it would cost me to humble them, nevermind the wear on my brakes to stop my car when it was all said and done.

A couple towns around here are full of nothing but Grade A 100% USDA choice cut Briars.
