Default Spring Tensioner Question

A quick question on the cam belt spring tensioner on a late (89) 2.7L.

How much should it actually move when releasing the tension with a pin wrench? I am changing my belts and it does not release all that much after loosing the bolts- just enough to slaken the belt some but not enough to get the belt off. I am pushing hard enough on my pin wrench that the pins are starting to bend a little...

Thanks

you actually want to remove the bolt you loosened that allows the tensioner to move. Once you remove that bolt the tensioner will move much further.
