Post Yes, Another sunroof question

Ok, so i took my whole sunroof assembly apart for the infamous plastic gears. So, long story short, heres where im at.

The motor and everthing works properly except for one thing. When im in ignition position 1, and press the button to retract the lever completely for sunroof removal, the gear keeps on going. I looked at the microswitches while in the lock position and switch 2 is engaged and switch 1 isnt. When i press the button to retract the arms completely, now both swithes are engaged, but they gears keep going, and will strip unless i let go of the button.

Any ideas?

The motor should keep going when you release the sunroof (retract the arms), there is a slipper clutch at the motor that slips when too much force is applied...(the arms hitting against the housing). This is why its important for the 2 lifting arms to be properly aligned.

Set the slipper clutch to 5 lb/ft using the 2 little bolts on the motor (where you go to manually raise/lower the lifting arms)...

This is the one thing I don't like about these cars... it will break if you aren't careful.

Just make sure you watch the arms when you retract them and don't let anyone else use the car (or at least the sunroof) and you'll be ok.

If the slipper clutch is adjusted properly and the arms are lined up right, there is NOTHING to worry about in terms of breaking sunroof gears.
