proper seat belt harness location?
Ok so where are the proper safe locations to mount harness belts from? right now I have a Stable Energies B pillar harness guide bar and Memoryfab seats. What would be safe rear mounting location? I'm thinking the the upper C pillar hole from stock rear belt for one of the mounts. It places the belt above the guide bar. But where to put the other mount? The other bolt hole for the rear seat belt is all the way down. the belt would be like way too low.
where to put it? i'm thinkin about spot right at the rear of hump in the middle of the drive tunnel. put a nut and a sheet of plate on the underside of the tunnel. would that be ok? how do yall have the rears mounted?

While I know the possibility of rolling the car during auto-X is small, it is still there. Not to mention the stiffness the cage will give the car is much better than being held in the seat a bit better. IMO.

I'm just finishing up a 6 point harness install and will be using a guide bar and the rear lapbelt anchors. Yes, I know a roll bar would be safer, and a roll cage would be safer than that, and playing video games would be even safer. But it seems like a no brainer that harnesses are safer than DOT three point belts in just about any situation that might arise on track.

There was quite a discussion on this topic in the racing section.
To answer the question though, Greg has it right, the shoulder belts mount to the rear lapbelt mounting points. I'll have 6pt harnesses with a guide bar in my 944 this summer hopefully.

Well, thats quite the angle. The harness bar I have makes an angle down towards the floor so the harnesses are at less of an angle.
I'd see what they have to say in the racing forum about that. I'm not sure if it's acceptable.
Heres a thread I made on the Ebay bar: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=56428
and this is a very good resource to read, incase you haven't already: http://www.schrothracing.com/docs/Co...structions.pdf

That angle is way too much.. most manufactures state anything above 30 degrees or below 5 degrees from the drivers shoulder is too much. Too low and the belts will cause the spine to compress in an impact. If too high, the belts do not provide enough forward restraint on the upper torso.
Also im fairly certain that bar is supposed to be used on the C-pillar for the 944. Its on the B-pillar for the other makes.

...hmm i'd have to check the part number. i know stable energies makes both a 944 B and C pillar bar.
i had my doubts. an alternative is to mount it at the trunk deck level. drill thru and put a backing plate on the underside.
ritz, can u measure the actual level of your bar in relation to the seat belt mounting hole? i want to compare how much lower your bar level is compared to mine.
