i would buy one. but i would rather have something a little more exotic, like the 968 turbo s.

i worked for the franklin mint for two years, and some of that time was spent with the die-cast collectibles division (cars and such). it's not easy to make a 1:18 scale model, lotsa steps involved. you'll need more than 100 interested buyers to convince a marketing department to drop a wad on tooling and research of the new model, especially since there are almost no models to pirate specs and tooling from.

Hi Rich...yes...951 (or S2) but gotta have Design 90 (7 spoke wheels)...just like the NGZ 1/43 scale.

I would be interested, but not likely to pre-pay. Like all of us, I would be most interested if it were to resemble my own car but having a Guards Red '86 NA (the most common 944) I can't understand why they would want to do one like that .
As far as color goes, I would figure that paint is the easiest part of production. Once the tooling is set up they could run off say 5000 cars in the first run and paint them 2 or 3 (or more) colors, say 1500 red, 1500 silver, 1000 black and 1000 white (IIRC these were the most common colors the actual cars were produced in) and as exc911ence said </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva"> I'm thinking Guards Red (the classic 944 colour) or silver (the classic German racing colour!). Wheels should be phone dials but the Design 90 would suffice as well. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Fuchs would work too!

Or, perhaps an Alpine White '89 S2 with Design 90 wheels and a SF Giants front license plate?

As to the question - I'd prepay p to $75. Most logical model/color combination would be a Guards Red 85.5 - 89 NA with phone dials. It would be difficult to achieve agreement on anything beyond that.

Yes, I want a Guard Red 944 NA. I'd prepay $75 to $100 and I'd probably buy a 951 if that's all they made. I'd suggest factory original with phonedials (though few of us like them much)

Any type of 944 would be great for me (though 951 is better, 951 Turbo S even better!). I'm going to have to be cheap though, as I'm building a house (and getting married) and say that my budget would only go up to about $50 bucks, anything else is going to be a stretch (and I don't make my own financial decisions anymore.. )

If it was a turbo I would consider it. If I could get a turbo s just like my car then definitely.

here we go...
first, I have created an online petition that we can all sign. Once we have a substantial number of signatures, like a thousand say.. then we can email all the diecast manufacturers the link to the petition.

<a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/944model/petition.html" target="_blank">http://www.petitiononline.com/944model/petition.html</a>

edit use this new petition which will actually show everyones answers to the 3 questions and email/name if you want it public:
<a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/944scale/petition.html" target="_blank">http://www.petitiononline.com/944scale/petition.html</a>
thanks
edit

second, heres a list of all the die cast manufacturers that are worth a damn, email each one with a little generic message about how you would like them to produce a Porsche 924/944/951/968 die-cast 1:18 scale model! yey.

Another good email address: ingrid@gatewayglobal-la.com is Ingrid Ivankova of AutoArt USA. She might actually read the email and see our petition signatures. Everyone can feel free to give her a link to the petition page too, just be sure to tell her to keep checking it to see how many more signatures we get, lets get a lot!

I'd order a 951 in a heartbeat. Prefer Guards Red with Black interior. Would purchase just about any color, then repaint if necessary (but it needs to have a black interior). $75 is fine on the price.

Would be interesting if we could pull the wheels off and replace them with ones off of a 911 1/18 scale model (for those of us with 993 wheels).
