Does the latest edition of excellence have the new market update on the 924/944/968? I thought it was every 2 years. If it is out...what is it saying?

Dont have it in front of me at work - but prices are up for the first time in about 4 years. (Of course you also have to take into account the "I hate 944" bias of Bruce.) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Stuttgart951: I don't think Bruce hates the 944 series: as a matter of fact, he has stated that the 951 is the best bang for the buck Porsche out there. This year he added to that statement saying that while this is still true, it is becoming hard to find a 951 in good condition, due to the age of the vehicle.
I have emailed Bruce a couple of times asking for technical advise (once on a 914, once on a 944S2), and he has always answered my questions clearly.
Regards,
-Zoltan.

O.k. went out and got the April edition of Excellence last night. It basically is a rehash of last years article. The only categories that are up in price are the 951's and the cabs. 944 n/a coupes, s2 coupes, and 968 coupes are down in price as compared to his figures last year....again...for whatever that's worth. Oh...there is a nice tricked out 951 track car on there with about 600 hp. 3.0 destroked to a 2.6. Good article about it.

Are there any 951s or 944s2 selling for the prices that Bruce lists in the article? The cars I have looked at are much higher priced, and in poorer than expected condition. Take a look at the classifieds here. The AVERAGE price is $13,000 with AVERAGE mileage of 91,000. This is nowhere near what Bruce is listed. Are these people actually getting this kind of money, or are they heavily discounted at sale?

Then it had 115k miles, all maintenance was up to date (except for the cam chain guide/tensioner).
Granted, the mileage was a bit high, but the car was (and is) in excellent condition.
YMMV,

However he does go on about... parts and maintenace is so expensive that they exceed the purchase price, a true and honest statement.
Then again, no one at Excellence seems to blink at spending five or even six figures on restoreing/maintaining a 911 or 356!
