Does anybody have a pic of the adapter? I want to see how much of the shifter I would be able to cut off and how much the adapter raises the ****. I found it listed in their catalog but no pictures and for less then $20 that would probably be easier.

Tazman, I can email you pics of the adapter if you want but the dimensions are 2" long x 5/8" diameter; adapter is adjustable in the sense that it will insert fully up into the **** or can be positioned such that the **** sits higher.

Carl that would be great if you could send me that pic tazz.mann@verizon.net Any chance you want to just sell the adapter to me? From the way you describe it I think I will be limited to keeping the base of the **** at the point where the factory unit steps to a bigger size. Does it utilize any of the factory rubber mounts to keep down the vibration? I was planing on cutting it right before it makes the offset then welding something on top of that. I guess i could just make it the same size as the upper part at that point and mount the adapter to that.

The MOMO **** is delivered with a variety of rubber bushings to use in isolating the **** to reduce vibrations. If you examine the stock lever you'll appreciate how Porsche really nailed the design, overengineering the vibration damping. The upper factory bushings won't work but you might be able to use the lower portion of the stock **** assembly to reduce vibrations. Make sure you have a good rubber inner liner under the shift boot.

Could those of you with teh MOMO shift boot give me a bit of help with sizing/fitment? I have the SFR short shifter, and the post on top of the shifter is so short that I have trouble installing the stock MOMO screw on piece, as it tapers down to the size of the shifter, meaning I can't get the **** on low enough for my personal taste (otherwise the 3 hex screws hit the shifter almost at the very top of the piece which irritates me, it also makes it virtually impossible to use the rubber damper. Does the screw on adaptor for the boot taper at all, or is the aperature the same size top to bottom where it screws onto the shift ****?

If you're using the MOMO Performance Boot, i.e., the boot that screws onto the ****, you don't use the **** screw on piece. The boot screws directly onto the **** and will provide sufficient clearance over the post.
It sounds like you will need to slightly reduce the outside diameter of the top of the shift lever. It's critical to get a solid mount and some damping on that shifter.

Oh, it's not the diameter, it's that the post is too short. I plan on using the MOMO boot, but if you took the MOMO screw on piece that replaces the bottom tapered piece, could you actually clear the flatter, angled part of the shifter?

Yes. I think so. The threaded adapter on the boot is identical to the threaded portion at the bottom of the ****, not much more than 3/8". There is nothing beyond the threaded adapter that would interfere. What's the height of the "post" SFR put on top of the lever?

Thanks for all your help Carl! I ordered the **** and boot. I am going to wait on the adapter to see how things work without it. If I need it then I will order it later I will just have a little rattle until it shows up.

The post can't be more than 1.5" high, and that might be a hair generous, it could be more like 1.25" high...it's enough if you leave the collar off the bottom, as you can get it right down there, but to put the collar on, it's virtually impossible to get it as low as I'd like, and it puts the set screws too high for my taste...seems kind of pointless to make the post that short, as 99% of ***** I've seen run all the way to the top, I'd think you'd want it 2" at the very least (and this is all with a VERY short MOMO competition ****)

I dont think you should buy MOMO for your porsche.
MOMO is italian and is supposed to be on ferraris and likes, rather buy omp or something else german.

They had the best prices on Momo items when I was looking at the end of the last year. Also, <a href="http://www.vertexauto.com" target="_blank">www.vertexauto.com</a> has the adapters and they're reasonably priced and customer oriented.

Lars, what kind of tires are on your car? I ask because I think I'd have a hard time settling on only ever buying german made tires. I guess there might be a problem with all those 3.6 turbos running Speedlines as well...perhaps the factory should recall them to put some BBS or Fuchs on the cars. ;o)
Seriously, to each their own, but personally I'd rather go for the best and brightest available rather than some wierd nationalistic brand loyalty.
