I'm toying with the idea of trying either the Pirelli Dragons or the Goodyear F1s to replace the Yokohama AVS Sport V102 on the front of my S2. I like the Yokos very much, and the replacement would be the Yokohama Advan Sport V103, but I was considering trying something else just for a change.
Any opinions on the Pirellis or F1s for 944s?

I use the Goodyear F1s on my car in a 17" size. Love them!
They do get rock hard in the colder temperatures and as a result traction suffers but in terms of dry performance and wet handling, I can't complain.
When I still had the 16" wheels thought I did exclusively use Pirelli. Of course I can't form a direct comparison between the two because performance-wise the 17" is superior.

Thanks. From your description of the F1s, I'me leaning that way -- cold temps are not issue where I live.
What size are you running on the front? I'm currently running 205/50 R 17 Yokos, but the F1s would be in a 225/45 R 17 size.

As you mentioned the fronts are 225/45 R17 while the rears are 255/40 R 17. No spacers or anything were used and the wheels are turbo twist clones. I haven't had any problems with rubbing but my car is stock height.

I ran the F1s on my BMW at VIR in the rain! Not the stickiest tires but the response is good and predictable. I really like the sidewalls.
I got the Eagle GTs for my 16" 944 wheels. Alignment is too agressive on that car to warrant any tires that expensive, not to mention I use r-comps for every event in that car so street tire "performance" is a non-issue for me.

Running the Eagle F1s on the front from today -- so far impressions are favourable. Different feel from the Yokos, definitely, but not in a bad way... just different. Hard to figure out exactly what's going on. Very enjoyable driving today!

What are you running on the back set? If the tread patterns are very different that could result in some funky handling and road feel.
