Post Electrical Gremlin?

OK. Here's one I'll bet you haven't seen before. When I flip my turn signal (either direction) my 'fasten seat belt' light will illuminate. It stays on for about 5 or 6 seconds, just as when the car is started. If my seatbelt isn't on, the buzzer will also sound. The light doesn't come on EVERY time the turn signal is used, but probably 40-50% of the time.

Make and year please. Need to check if the turn and seat belt warning wires are close to each other in a gauge pod.

Electrical diagram are not helping. The brake warning light and the seat belt alarm are shown in a seperate box from the Instrument cluster, Porsche forgot to label the seatbelt warning light so you have to follow it over from the seat belt warning relay to determine it location.

Might try borrowing a seat belt warning relay and see what that does. I have little hope it will fix the problem. I bet you are just going to have to rip it apart and go "looking" for the problem or live with it.

Germanicus,

When your car starts does it exhibit a rough idle? Sometimes they go 'Clau...clau...clau.." when they're having wiring problems..

I have the same problem, I wanted to get rid of the annoying door buzzer anyways, so this was right up my alley:

yank the relay (big white 4 on it) above the fuse panel on the driver side, this will kill the door buzzer and the "fasten seat belt light" altogether. I'm saving weight.

You might want to check the grounds under the dash.

My expereince with my cluster has been that if any of the instruments have a bad connection at the cluster, it can cause weird gremlins in other gauges/warning lights.

With mine it was bad voltmeter connection that caused oil pressure gauge to drop to zero whenever I applied the emergency brake. I really didn't know that those three were actually related - oh that's right they aren't
