Blaupunkt Monterey cassette...quick question

Simple question, I have dust in my volume **** pot...really loud pops. I am going to clean it with stereo cleaning spray but the **** wont pull off. I dont wont to damage it. How do you remove it?

IIRC, it pulls right out. At least on mine in the 83 it did. I remember the dial having something like a rubber cover on it.
