Left Rear Tire Rubs - Rolling Reqd?

Tom, I don't have a clue what the Bronx is like but it sounds like what I did to do the rub test. We have a very ****ty road close by and just ran it through that to get some real good wheel travel.
You can drive like an old lady over smooth roads and not get a rub; but they may rub once you start pushing things. You just need to figure out how much additional clearance you need and where. That is where the paint rub comes in handy.
I also would be concerned about cutting the tire up with your L shaped lip. At minimum your tire is going to look like a major case of curb rash and that you don't know where the edge of your car is. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

I tried rolling the lip a little while ago. every turn of the bat tore the tape. I had my wife sitting in the hatch for leverage/weight. i should have put 100psi in the tires because every time i applied pressure the tire gave. i put some wood underneath but that didnt help. i was using an old bat that was outside for a while. gotta get a solid piece of oak and try that. none of this soft pine crap. i'll keep you posted.
i gotta use the aurora tomorrow for a long trip, and put the 944 in the garage so i'll use the mazda next week. maybe it will correct itself int the garage!

A lot of the roads in the Bronx are really bad, if I recall. Spent a lot of time there during the 70s and 80s. Some of them reminded me of pictures of Berlin in 1945. I can understand bottoming out, particularly in a vehicle with minimum clearances. THey just ain't designed for tank traps!!
