Default high idle - repair thoughts

My 87NA has been idleing around 2300 once warmed up, and I know the classic "first check" is the IAC. The question is, should I just order the hoses to/from the IAC and put them in regardless? I don't want to start opening things up and then be in a position of "without needed parts". I will also be putting in a new radiator and expansion tank over spring break. Thoughts of members are appreciated.

Have you done the "pre-first check" items like vacuum lines, throttle body linkage/cable...the things that don't cost any money.

Throttle linkage/cable appears ok, not sure how many/which vacuum lines to check. PET diagrams aren't necessarily the most helpful for placement. TPS has been replaced in the past.

TPS might be out of adjustment...

I'd also be suspicious of a vacuum leak.

How does one adjust the TPS? I didn't see anything in clark's garage on adjustment. Also, which vacuum lines are most likely culprits to check?

I hate to say it, but all of them, particularly if they are original. On the TPS, do you hear a tiny click as the TB is fully closed?

Uh, anyone try the idle speed adjustment screw on the throttle body? Its not the idle mixture on the AFM or the throttle plate stop.

For vacuum lines, grab a flathead screwdriver, open the hood, and tighten any clamps on the ends of rubber hoses you can find. I did it as maintenance, fixed my idle from 1200 to 600, and the car performed much better than previously.

BTW, I should clarify. If you close the idle screw all the way and the engine still runs, you got a vacuum leak. Get a can of carburetor cleaner with a straw and shoot it around suspected leaks. If the engine rpm goes up, thats where your vacuum leak is.
