Could be condensation built up from the cold weather, especially if you drive for a short distance and car does not warm all the way up. Any oil in the coolant reservoir? You might want to change the oil into a container that allows you to inspect it before tearing things apart. If milk shake for sure you're probably right about the oil cooler seals, not to bad of a job.

i will check the coolant, but could the flow be both ways oil to coolant or coolant to oil. Is there a way to determine which is first?

The contamination can go both/either way, not sure if one is more common than the other. The topic has been covered quite a bit, a search may reveal more information.

Typically a headgasket failure gets coolant in the oil, and an oil cooler failure gets oil in the coolant. Again though, if you are trying short trips in the winter time, you will get some froth on the bottom side of the cap. Might want to do an oil change to verify.

Default Oil Cooler?

OK, perhaps I can get this cleared up. After doing some reading (Original Porsche 924/944/968 by Peter Morgan) I was led to believe the the 951 only has the air cooled oil cooler and none in the block. Is this correct or does it have both the air cooled and the water cooled oil cooler?

Turbo - i too thought that was the case but i could not verify. I looked in the shop manual and it was not clear and did not show that htere was a difference. I have to get under the car and look when the weather get warmer. Unless someone can give us more insight.

The 951 did use only the air / oil heat exchanger on the front however it still uses the same gasket and o-rings for the oil filter housing which still do fail which can lead to coolant getting into your oil. What does the oil on the dipstick look like? If you are really worried, drain the oil and take a look.

It could just be condensation, we have been having some pretty wild temperature swings lately with 15-20 degree depressions between highs and lows.

Did one on an early '85. Not horrible, but a pain due to lack of space.

You are likely using incorrect antifreeze. Most antifreeze that is safe for use with aluminum engines is orange. You should probably check that.
