Default 7mm Spacer to Clear Wheel Bearing Cap - Questions

When running newer Porsche wheels I know you need to add a 7mm spacer to the fronts in order to clear the wheel bearing cap so that you can use the center caps.

Do you have to get longer wheel studs for the 7mm spacer?
If so, do you get longer wheel nuts, so you can run stock wheels without the spacer?

Has anyone come up with another solution to this? Different bearing cap? Modifying bearing cap?

I'd rather not run spacers because the tires are already pretty close the fenders, and a 7mm spacer may cause them to rub.

PS - I searched and didn't find any info on this.

You won't be able to "modify" the cap much because the spindle's threaded end is already very close to the cap.

Which wheels are you trying to fit exactly...?

The 996 10 spokes fit with less that 7mm and the center cap is concave.

On the wheel nut, on a street car, I'd say it's safe without longer studs as long as you engage enough threads to equal at least the measured width of the wheel stud on the car.

I didn't buy longer studs...I check my wheels ritualistically...never loose.

I'm trying to fit Kinesis K18R's.

Anyone ever run 5mm spacers?
