I just met a guy in my area, he bought the same car as me, a 1987 Porsche 924S. I pulled up next to him at a traffic light and started talking with him, we pulled off into a McDonalds parking lot and started talking. I asked him if he had gotten the timing belt done recently, he said he did not know, and the PO never said anything about it. I told him the whole "catostrophic failure and bent valves deal" and he asked is it a good idea to just take it to a Porsche dealer to have it done. I told him about a Porsche dealer i know not to far away, called Sportique Porsche of Huntington. Would they be able to peform the service thier? Or is it better to take it to a Foreign car shop. Does anyone know of any in the Long Island, New York area?

I had my t-belt, balance shaft belt, and waterpump done at S.M. Motorsports in New Hyde Park. Their number is 516-775-8655 and you can set up something with Sonny. The mechanic's name is Peter.
Their address is:
140 Lakeville Road
New Hyde Park, NY
My car came back drivable and without the problems others have experienced, thankfully.
Now I do my own belts
Oh, it cost me about $1k for the work, which is why I learned to do it myself...

Very good, putting that into my "for future reference" folder for my car, and will pass the information along to my new Porsche buddy. Thanks for the help!
