Post Got my windows tinted, here are some pics

Went and got my windows tinted today, ended up getting 5% on the back windows and 20% on the drivers and passengers windows. Really illegal but who cares since I am shipping the car to Germany in two days. The guys did a really good job although the back window was being a big pain.

I like it Michael, but maybe thats because i did pretty much the same

I like the fact that the dark tint helps to hide whats in the rear of the car (Audio gear).

The guy at the shop had to clear the schedual for my car so it was the only one being done that day!...still charged me the reg. price for a coupe tho. Cant wait.

Michael,
how did they do your rear window, as in how many pieces? I had a shop do my old '89 NA and they had to break it into 4-5 large sections because it was so large and it looked less than perfect. Have stopped short of tinting my turbo or S2 for this reason.

Looking "like ***" seems a little harsh to me. hey, we cant all have euro bumpers like yourself. i think we've alrady heard the majority opinion on the bumpers ...we weren't even talking about them here.

Tell them about how great your old car sounds!!!

Uh, no, my wheel bearings still haven't arrived. Also, the reason the 1st ones didn't go well (yes, i have only done wheel ONE time because I was straded near france!) is because of where the old ones had welded themselves to the spindle and I could not do the necessary repairs in the parking lot with my cohort who doesn't speak a word of english. I knew it would go out, I just didn't plan on it happening so fast, like on the way home! It got me home and I've cleaned up the spindle and it is ready to go. When do you fly home? I think you have a rear wheel bearing project waiting for you!!!

Who is picking you up too???

No problem. No hard feelings? Mike and have known each other for a while. We work together and work on each others cars. I didn't expect anyone to take offense. I just like to get mike fired up sometimes. He's funnier then!

I really hope it is the front wheel bearing, I am going to change them out right when I get home and hopefully the noise goes away. If it doesn't I may just take it to Harry, I won't be in the mood to mess with it. I get back to Germany on the 6th, we are riding back on the flightline shuttle. That is the last day of my leave so I will be back at work on the 7th

I am thinking that I will put the Gemballa rear end on my new car and the big bumper on the old one. I can sell it as having the "High Impact Rear Bumper." I am leaving at 0500 tommorow morning to drive to Dallas and drop the car off. I hope it makes it to Germany in one piece.

I thought everyone knew we were the Rennlist Beavis and Butthead

Will military plates get you around the stringent German car inspections?

They had to do it in two pieces. They put the seam right along one of the defroster lines so you don't see it unless you look really close.
