Default Porsche Lighted Key Head

My lighted key dosent work anymore, something is broken inside of it. I seen you can just buy the head for the key for about $20. How is this replaced ? Does it just pull apart ??

If you take a small flat-head screwdriver (small ones you use to eyeglasses or computer repair), you can ply open the keyhead along the side. Once you open it, you'll see a couple of small pieces that can be pulled apart with a small tool. Be careful because one of the piece is spring-loaded.

I just did this to my key. You pry the back off than take the little L shaped plastic piece out and than a spring will come out from behind it. There is a rectangular piece of plactic that slides out from where the spring came out. That piece holds the key in place. It still takes a little pulling to get the key out it has been there 20+ years. The keys snaps easily into the new head without taking apart.

If it's your battery, you can get new ones at radioshack. I think you need a 6V, and they don't have that, but I bought two thin 3V and put them in together. While you have it open, convert the dinky bulb to an LED!

If it's your bulb, convert that sucker to an LED! My key puts my brother's MAGlite to shame! My batteries don't last super long. I probably should have gotten a dimmer LED but 1,000,000 mcd is cool.

Here's a DIY for updating it to a LED in the key - I tried it and the LED died rather quickly, so I wouldn't really suggest doing this, but if nothing else the write up has some semi-decent pictures of the inards of the key to give you an idea of what you'll be looking at.
