How do I get pictures in my post, not just links to them on the web

well if they are already somewhere on the web...
you just press that cute [IMAGE] button below and paste in the URL of where the image is..
or you can type it all out manually like so:
[ IMG ]http://forums.rennlist.com/images/new_logo.jpg[ /IMG ] (without the spaces) will produce:
yay
btw - you wouldnt happen to want to sell a poor moneyless college student those wheels for a few hundred bucks would you?

thats very generous of you fx. i really really wish i had a reason to buy those wheels right now... i dont even have 750 but if all my phone dials just suddenly melted this would be such a great opportunity! sorry - rambling.

fx, follow my instructions.
that will post them inside the post
you still have to UPLOAD them to either a website or to rennlist first though
if they are already on a website then you just make a link to them inside the [ img ] tag as shown above
if you need to upload them click the UPLOAD PHOTO link up top: <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/upload.html" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/upload.html</a>
and you will get a URL to post in your url inside the image tag for the image to appear in your post. got it?

What he's saying is that the pictures have to be accessable somewhere in cyberspace, ie not just on your hard drive. You don't upload images to a thread, the threads just point out to somewhere else on the internet that the picture is.
