The 931 (924 turbo) uses a prop rod instead of shocks to hold the hood up. Most of the time, you have to weld the brackets onto the hood to mount the shocks. I say most of the time because I have one from an '82 turbo I was parting out that already has the brackets on it from the factory. It still used the prop rod, but the brackets for the shocks were in place. They must have been running short of 931 hoods, so they stole one from the 944 parts bin and cut the scoop into it.

Does the underside of the hood where the early style fan motor would be have enough clearance for the later style? Is there really a difference?

Here are two pics from a friend of mine who owned this car, which was just beautiful too. I didnt ask him, but I am curious about something. Did the 924 hood (I didnt research this) come with a vent on the passenger or driver's side? My friend has it on the driver side as you can see, and to me, this is much more functional. Also, is buying a new hood the only way to get that scoop? Colin, you know 951 more than most people, what cha think dude?
