John,
Ray uses Snitz 2000 Forums, it is an open source forum system for Windows, it uses Access, MSSQL or MySQL as a back end database. I am not sure which backend Ray is using but I assume SQL is used for all three.
I think the big differences in 968.net and Renllist is that 968.net has a more focused group of users and multiple forums (Buyers Guide, Miscellaneous, Service & Repair, Events, Modifications, Wish List and Racing) just to chat about 968's. Perhaps if you could work something out with Ray, add additional 968 Forums and add the years of 968 content from 968.net Rennlist and 968.net could be united?

Hey Bruce.!
Thanks for the info about what the 968.net Forum uses - I remember trying a Beta with Snitz, and it should import without a problem (the easiest way would be create a new forum like "Import" - and intially import the messages there - then "move" them into the correct Forums after importing them..)...
As well - I also have about 20,000+ 968 posts from the e-mail lists (968 and main 944 lists, where they are discussing 968 topics) - so somehow joining the 968 specific archives/formats would be kind of cool, and I daresay - represent an archive without peer on the Internet for 968 owners and enthusiasts...??!!!

Im new to the 968 world, was there an email mailing list in the past? Is there any chance you would share those 20k posts? I would love to put them online somewhere where they could be searched. Or just do the work to get them in a format that you / Ray / whoever could put online for the rest of us to enjoy.
