Smile Seduced by the "dark side" - But I'll still wave...

Well, I went and did it. Picked up a 1989 911 (964) Carrera 4 this morning. I told my wife that it was for her, but we all know the real story.

Actually, the 2 cars drive so differently that it is a pleasure getting into either one of them. Funny, the C4 is 4 years newer, but at 103k on the ticker it has almost twice the miles of my 944! While I had not wanted to potentially "abuse" my pretty 944 in auto-x or other hard DE driving, I just don't feel the same way about the C4, so I look forward to finding out much better what a P-car can do (and whether I am up to the task of driving it well!)

Anyway, here's the photo. And whenever I see a watercooler on the road, I will wave regardless of the P-car I am driving.

Tom

Amazingly, the 944 in red looks way more agressive than the 911(964)! Nice one though! Cool rims too.

Your 944 is in sweet shape! Original paint?

PO was in Utah, and kept the car in a heated garage for 7 months out of the year. And she's only got 54k on the ticker!

The 964 is a great car. My buddy has same year in red, really nice to have that torque. No dark-side in that. Enjoy!

Ever driven your buddy's 964? I'm just looking for more comparisons like the one I made. I had heard some things about the 964, especially the C4 AWD, that it was somewhat slow and lost the road feel. I will have to agree that in town, the C4 is not really in its element, but on the highway that thing just flies. And going around a good corner while accelerating up to freeway speeds was just amazing - Like on rails. It does feel heavier than the 944, but I will have to say I am impressed with the way they civilized the 911 - Without becoming plain vanilla.

What were your impressions?

Thanks,
Tom

I've ridden in a C4 in San Antonio, the car pulled FTD's REGULARLY. It was extremely quick! Pretty car too! Congrats.
