Question Oil Pressure Relief Valve

Someone enlighten me. I lost the oil pressure in my 84 944. I figured I'd check the pressure relief valve. Paragon's Tech-Session had a blurb about it which was clear except mine has a 17mm bolt, not 22 or 24mm. So I took it out, it wasn't sticky or gunked up or anything. It looks like the one my 68 VW had. There's the metal cylinder or plunger at the end, a heavy spring that goes in it, and the 17mm retaining bolt. No O rings. The write-up mentions an older 3 piece and newer 1 piece unit. Which is this? And can this possibly be what the parts places want $250 for? That seems a little high.

You have the older three piece that was superceded to the newer one piece with a very high price tag. The three piece doesn't have and O ring. You might want to measure the oil presure with a manual oil gauge unless you can hear the valves making noise.

carpartstogo.com Has the one-piece for $213. There are two different kinds. one for a retrofit '86(replaces 3-piece) and one for 87 and newer models.
