Exclamation Need help now, please: leak where fuel line

screws directly into the fuel pump. The threaded connection isn't tapered, doesn't fit very tight, and didn't appear to have a gasket or sealant of anykind to stop the connection from leaking.
I have had this problem before, but I kept playing with it and it would stop. Now the gas just squirts out when the pump is on.
Am I missing a gasket or rubber washer or ??

Thanks.....

jeeter,

I looked at the PET and for 86-89 it shows the fuel pump, a check valve with a seal ring, and a banjo type fuel line connector with a seal ring on each side. Sounds to me like you're missing one of the seal rings, but I can't be sure.

Bottom line is you don't want any fuel leaks - very bad medicine!

Good Luck!

there should be a fitting with a check valve that screws directly into the pump. This fitting seals with a copper washer, crush ring, on tne outside shoulder of this fitting should be, in order, 1 copper washer-banjo fitting-1 copper washer-cap nut. if any of these copper washers are missing do not drive the car, don't even run the engine untill its fixed. Good luck Mark T.
