The splitter finishes off the front end. Without it the car looks like it's 15" off the ground. I also have the AIR splitter on my Cabrio. It gives downforce and also make the car look better. Don't see any downsides to that.

I'd also like to hear about clearance and fitment of the splitter. Was it an easy installation, or was there cutting and twisting and prying just for it to fit right?

Dont we need to add a rear spoiler to balance out the car? (I mean downforce wise)

Not sure if the other users of AIR products are going to chime back in, but mine was an easy install.

-mark the holes on the splitter from the stock location
-drill holes and attach
-if it lines up right (mine did) prep the panel for primer and paint
-prime, cure, sand
-paint, cure, sand
-clear, cure, sand
-sand sand sand
-buff buff buff
-attach to car
-drink beer

Really.. I thought it was a quality peice. Compared to the PP nose peice, this thing is a work of art!

<strong>OZ951,

I have looked at your website quite a bit in the past. Congrats on all the work you did to your car, it's very inspiring work. It looks absolutely beautiful and I must confess i'm not a huge fan of yellow 944/951's, but yours is exceptional. The shade of yellow is perfect. The nose panel and splitter only add to entire package.

Looks great!</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Thanks man <img border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" title="" src="graemlins/drink.gif" />

First and foremost, thank you for the compliments - they make me wonder if I should be selling.

First the splitter:

My experience was pretty good. AIR marks the holes you drill, drill them, remove OEM peice, install. The actual installation can be tricky as you need to fish screws through two different holes in order to attach the splitter to the car, but the fit was excellent.

I ended up deciding that if I sanded the splitter well enough I wouldnt have to prime it - and I didnt need to seal it (was just excited to get it mounted I guess) and I really should have. I got a whole sh!tload of stone chips on the splitter (been installed since September) - so I plan on removing it, stripping it, and doing it right in the near future.

As for its purpose - for me it just looks good, but for a track car, it does increase front downforce at speeds. Those who have the AIR splitter (or something similar) installed on a track car also put something on the rear of the car - as the higher downforce in front will upset the car's balance. (so in short, yes it is functional)

Why am I selling? Two reasons - going to be buying a house in the not so distant future and I'm looking for another P-car to expand my horizons a bit (this car was my first Porsche - got me hooked) Based on the number of inquiries Ive recieved after posting pictures on various websites, I may miss a few - so if you'd like more information, service records, more pics, etc, you'd be better off sending me an Email - I wont miss that.

Why in the near future instead of now? There are a couple things I would like to do to the car before I list it for sale officially (unless someone just HAS to have it) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

As mentioned above - I'd like to redo the splitter.

The turbo pump is starting to make more noise than it should after I shut the car off - going to remove and clean or replace.

I have a 993 BCV laying around that I havent installed yet - I want to throw that in just because I still have the OEM unit in there.

I dunno - I'd just really like to sell the car to a fellow PCA member, Pelican head or a 'Lister so I can check up on her from time to time, and since I know that the car needs to have those couple parts thrown in, I might as well do it.

Some strange sense of "belonging" makes me feel as if I'm passing off my own enjoyment to someone else, not "selling a car" - and as such, I want to make it as close to perfect as I can. Its really strange... I had it listed last summer in the local paper and turned down a very generous offer because the kid was a ricer... just couldnt let the car go knowing it would be running the stoplight GT every weekend and getting abused... I called the paper and had them remove the ad that day... are you supposed to have this kind of attachment to a car?

Look at many of the users around here. We are just like you. It is hard letting something go that was your first.. or something you put a lot of love and time into. Cars have personalities, and they wear on you.

Good luck selling, and I hope it is someone here, and someone who appreciates the car like you do.

Cheers to your next one.

I know the feeling, sold my '87 na a few months back and almost regret it everyday. My S2 is much nicer but that '87 was my first and favorite. If I had to do it all over again I'd keep the old 8 valver. I guess in time the S2 will grow on me, but it will be hard to replace the old one. Good luck with your car, it looks great.

I think Im going to ask for $12,000 and see where it goes from there. The prices on these things are all over the place based on condition/milage/etc.

I guess it all depends on your viewpoint. If your buying a 951, the cars are worth $6,000. If youre selling a 951, they're worth $15,000. I figure as long as Im somewhere inbetween, Im ok.

(again, if youve asked for info via Email, if might take until tomorrow for me to get everything out to everyone (never knew my car was so desirable, hehe) At least I now know Im not the only one who loves these car's just a little too much.
