Default Harness Bar/ Cage Options

OK I've searched and can't find sh_t for some reason.

Looking to bring the 951 out to the track. I thought I would put some new seats in the car as well as harnesses. So.....I need a cage or harness bar.

Any advice on where to look? Anyone selling anything?

Thanks!

I like the Brey-kraus stuff. Although I have never seen one of their harnesses in a 951/44. I am assuming they make one.

Check out John's site http://redlinerennsport.homestead.co...guardPage.html by far the best system without a cage. There has been a great deal of info on this site as well as others to discourage the use of harness guide bars.
good luck

One thing I do not like about Harness bars, and therefore would not recommend them, is they'll probably be fine in a collision where car remain upright, they become downright dangerous in a rollover. If the car goes over, the occupant is locked in an upright position. If the roof collapses a couple of inches (not a lot of room between the roof and the top of your helmet) bad things will happen. Without overhead protection (minimum of a roll bar) I believe you'll be safer with the stock 3pt belt (in a rollover) as it will allow your shoulders and head room for lateral movement to avoid crushing your spine or breaking your neck.

Thanks for the help guys.

Looks like I need to make the decision on a simple harness bar or a cage. I am headed to talk with my fathers mechanic tonight. He's the one convincing me to do all this.....well it all started trying to convince me to buy one of his old challenge cars....a black 355. I told him I have a car collecting dust in my garage....perhaps I should try it before I go spending $70K for his car!!!

Here's a pic of a car we run (just replaced by a 430 challenge). Powerhold is my fathers company that my brother and I run.

agreed on jeremy's point.

however, if you're only going to be doing Solo or other lowspeed events, the chance of a rollover is so slim.

I bought the ebay harness bar and for $154 to my door, I'm really really pleased.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...Q5fAccessories

I had the guy make 4 guides with equal spacing to the BK harness bar instead of those 2 guides that look too narrow. They will either blast it for powdercoating or primer it for paint.

I think it's the best harness bar option next to a BK.

That's exactly the one I was looking at. Did you have a drawing you sent him for the changes? Or was it something he came up with? Let me know.....if I only go with a harness bar, that will be the one.

My other question is.....will my car be street legal with the harness in place of a normal seatbelt? Probably not??

I'm going to run the factory 3pts and harnesses. Streeting harnesses is kind of ridiculous. You can't look over your shoulder very easily or bend over to pick stuff up off the floor.

But I don't see why they wouldn't be street legal?
