Default So, I started my fuel line upgrade...how do you shut the fuel off??

So, I'm following Lindsey's fuel line upgrade to the "T"...

http://www.lindseyracing.com/mm5/mer...Code=FUELLINES

I got the plastic wheel cover off inside the wheel well (total bit$%) and then opened the hood and went to work getting the lines off the damper and FPR.

I started with the damper line - used two wrenches to hold the big nut steady while I loosened the fitting and as soon as it came just a tiny bit loose gas comes spraying out. I thought it might just be the built up pressure since I just drove the car a few hours ago, so I tightened it back up and then stuck a bunch of rags under there and then opened it back up again. I left it open for about 15 seconds and the pressure never subsided - it soaked my rag. That can't be right. Am I missing a step somewhere to make sure the gas is not shut off?? Certainly you don't have to empty a half gallon of gas in the engine to get these lines off??

Depressurize the rail by pulling the dme relay and cranking the car.

Just so I know... how does that work? I was thinking (don't say it, I know) that as vacuum falls with engine off, the regulator ports more fuel to the return line and hence less pressure in the rail. And I realize that no dme relay means no more fuel coming in, but how would cranking the engine help to reduce rail pressure? Bruce
