Post My 12yr old says he doesn't like 951's! Post your best arguments

When I showed him a picture of a 951 like the one I am buying he told me that he did not really like those, too 80's looking, asked why I did not get a 911. Not that his comment changes my mind, but would be interested in your perspectives. I will let him read them here so keep it pretty clean!

Er ah a 951 is to 80's looking, why didn't you buy a 911?

Well er ahh the 911's started out in the 70's, so wouldn' they be too 70's looking.

Take him to the local SCCA races and let him watch the 951's just walk away rom the 911's

i think once he sees it, and takes his first drive with you, and feels that boost .. it'll change his mind <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

tell him to quiet down with his bigotry!!! remind him that he too looks a little 80's(ish) and that you would have got a better model but he's all that was offered at the hospital. then remind him he's just what you wanted so he doesnt get all offended when you say that his opinion didn't matter, and you're getting the 951 anyway. then take him for a ride and change his mind!

and get him some krispy kreme doughnuts... mmmm
oh wait, that last line was for me.

When my then 12 yr-old first saw the picture of my 951 on the Internet he sort of went 'Dawh?'. So I decided to take him along when I test-drove the car. He immediately fell in love with the car as sson as he felt the boost and as he realized how low to the ground it was and how sleek its curvy fenders were.

Now every morning before he goes to school, he sits in the car for 10 minutes imagining shift points and apex negotiation of track curves. This week, he actually cleaned out the interior of the car...this from a guy who now has a typical teenager bedroom!

Don't worry, he'll come around.

That's ok, so I guess that when you get your license you won't want to drive it? And since I'm paying for it really it only needs to please me.

Then take him out to the woodshed and let him pick the branch.

2 arguements:

1) He's not as smart as my 3 year old. Ha Ha! <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" />

2) Tell him to pull up his pants, get a job, buy his own stinking car 'cause who cares what he thinks if he isn't paying for it.

Just kidding, ofcourse. <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

Top 10 ways to make friends and family fall in love with the 944 Turbo:

10: Hang a poster of a 944 turbo in the house. (I had one for 5 years before even KNOWING what kind of car it was!)
9: Buy / build 944 models and leave them around the house..
8: Leave "Porsche Propaganda" (Excellence, GT, 911 & p-world) lying around, with 944 articles in 'em
7: Hearing someone constantly talking about how much they love thier 951 and how great it is.
6: Reading Bill underwood's 944 site and reading about his accident in his n/a (that was my first read about the 944) or reading about other people's great 951 experiences... (ie rennlist)
5: Feeling so proud and happy to own a 951 when you hear people constantly saying what a nice car you have. (Especially when it's a hot chick thinking its a Ferrari..)
4: See one out perform, and generally embarass 99% of all cars out there that cost about the same, or more, as a used 951.
3: See one in real life, for yourself, close up and see the muscular exterior lines and perfectly laid out interior.
2: Go for a ride in one, on a curvy highway, at boost
1: Let them DRIVE the car at boost, on a curvy highway.

After all that, there's no way anyone could NOT like the 951.

IMO any given 924, 944 or 968 look crap on pictures. These cars were just not made to be photographed and look very understated.

Once he will see one in the flesh he will change his mind for sure.

The pic in your avatar is a good example that the 944 can look really good in photos, and I think that a cherry, clean 944 can look VERY good in pictures. (I like to think some of my photos make <a href="http://gallery.rennlist.com/albums/albuo97/Img_1932.sized.jpg" target="_blank">my 951</a> look better in the photos than in real life...)

However you do have to see one in real life in motion to truely appreciate it, I agree with that.

Anyway, why bother trying to come up with a best argument, just tell him not to worry about it since he'll never get to drive it anyway.

I think the 951 is a great looking car, but more important... once he feels that boost kick in he wont care whet it looks like!
