How can I tell if it's a 944s?

You might look at the silver sticker near the fuse box which has the VIN number. Also, you can check the sticker in the back, driver side, where the options are.

Heh. Tighten that balance belt on a 8 valve and you've instantly got a 16 valve!

My S2 doesn't whine particularly. But then again, I only have the balance belt set to wimpy 8 valve tension. Probably costs me at least 25hp. I'll fix that when I next change the blinker fluid.
