Tim,
One friend has an Autothority chip and my brother has the Hoppen chip. I would recommend the Hoppen chip based on seat of the pants/driving impression. Unfortunately the chips are soldered in so all the chip vendors will require you to send it in. Well worth it though.

I've never checked out the Audiworld forums - only the classifieds. The problem is we are all pretty spoiled by Rennlist - makes going to other list painful.
