I used to have a V-1. It worked good. It got ripped off from my car (my falt, didnt lock the doors). This time I bought the Escort 8500. It is $300 dollars and IMHO works better than the v-1 ever did. It picks up KA band much sooner. I also found it to have more features (and is more tunable) I get far less false alarms also. It also has a rear aintena for rear attacks. When it beeps you know its for real. After using both detectors I wold highly recomend the Escort (Its also $100 cheaper) over the v-1. THe v-1 works ok- but is showing its age. Also saw a test in a car mag that put the escort way above the v-1 in KA radar detection. I just wish i had the money for Escorts Laser jamming system! So sweet!!
