Post Battery Shield/Deflector

I've seen a couple of posts with people mentioning a black plastic shield/deflector that mounts on the back of the hood near the battery. I believe that this piece is designed to help divert excessive water (i.e. when it is raining) from spilling directly on top of the battery.

My car ('86 951) does not have this part installed. However, I did notice several female threaded holes in the correct area of the hood for mounting. Is the part available separately? I looked in PET without success.

Also, is there an "official" strap to retain the battery cover? Mine just sits on top of the battery. I would like to have a strap to hold it in place more securely (and I'm not particularly fond of using duct tape for this application ;-) )

Thanks,
-MDW
P.S. I just realized that this was my 200th post...not bad for 5 months.

No straps, it just sort of clips onto the battery. You could probably attach it with some velcro but I don't think it's necesary. I thought about this when I got one but I tried to reach in with the hood closed and you can't pull it out without destroying it. So I don't think any amount of air flow could make it fly off.

Thanks for the insight about the battery cover.

Any comments out there on the "deflector" I mentioned previously?
