Mad George and I went over to Sherion's place to help with a replacement thermostat on his 951. This was my first oppertunity to work on the "dreaded snap ring" removal. After hearing all of the horror stories I was expecting a full day of cussin and moanin. Much to my surprise, we were finish in just over an hour! I don't know how - maybe it's just a three man job!
We used 90 degree needle nose pliers to grab the holes in the snap ring, a small mirror to see what we were doing, and a shop light. Took about three tries and bam - out it came. We found the best way was from under the car. We did take off the power steering belt to make it easier to get to.
Went so well that we're thinking of opening a one hour snap ring shop in the Houston area! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

I have friends...just none who are inclined towards getting dirty working on cars...
Anyway, three guys for one hour works out to three man-hours... not bad, but not spectacular
Jim, need to cultivate some different friends...

True, but we actually spent most of that time goofing off with the sunroof on my car!
