Post OT-Ferrari F50 GT1 sounds good

My hands hurt from the effort of that understatement.

This video makes my nipples hard, in that really good car kinda way.

And this one isnt too shabby either, I sure would love to chase over 2 million in exotics.

I dont normally feel envy, but I will make an exception in this case.

These are from www.nsxfiles.com if you havent been there. That site should be required reading for anyone interested in racing. It describes the horrible, bloody, mind-numbing expenses, and also the addictive adrenaline rush. I really want to track my 951, hopefully after I move to Phoenix. I can already see where it will all lead. Bigger and better everything, more HP, more TQ, more speed, whee! (Dont tell my wife this stuff is expensive)

there was an article when the F50 GTR came out saying that they only made two of them and that the buyers were never allowed to track them, I guess that was a falicy. But man do I want one....

I think the operative term is 'race' the car. Perhaps the factory was worried privateer teams may topple the official efforts? Perhaps it was related to the lease-package of the street F50s? Where you couldn't even own an F50, only lease it from Ferrari and they forbade you from allowing anyone to do instrumented testing? When someone finally let a magazine do a test on the F50, it was slower than the F40!

the F50 should compete against the 911 GT1 Porsche unfortunatelly it was 3 sec per lap slower. So Ferrari stoped the Project and decided not to race it and not to let anybody else race it. This would destroy Ferraris effort and Image and since they won in the F1 nobody ask how fast the street cars were. I think they sold only one car to a US guy.

Yes, the F50 GT1 wasn't that much faster than the street F50 (about 2-seconds/lap at Willow Springs on race rubber). Compared to how much faster the Porsche GT1 was over a street 911, Ferrari probably would have lost for sure.

As Doug said on his website, Ferrari officially built 2 F50 GT1s and the 3rd was built from spares for those two cars. One was sold to a Japanese collector. One went to another collector in San Francisco. The last one belongs to Jim Spiro of New Orleans.

I just think it sounds astounding. The 335 isnt too shabby either.

I suddenly think its OK that Ferrari has an exhaust sound tuning guy. And its OK that they spent a lot of money to make them sound that way too. It was worth it. That car sounds like it can literally eat other, lesser cars, and spit out ground shards of metal.
