@ Racer - I wasn't planning on tossing the kid back there with a couple of tie downs, the whole point is to do it right and the manufacturers aren't the only ones capable of making the seat belts safe. In fact back in 86 the cars have obviously much less in terms of child safety so if anything we are making an improvement. I have 3 kids under the age of 4 and wouldn't dream of putting them in a seat that was not 100%. In fact I'll even take it down to the Fire Station and have it inspected.


@Markusnolff - that looks great. I have that same seat your boy is in, (what a cute tired little boy). I was thinking of doing a rear seat delete but I think that might be a bit extreme. Thanks for the inspiration!
