if i was to install carbon fiber parts in my car,such things like carbon fiber hood,sunroof and front bumper, will my car go faster?i might also be installing some polycarbonate windows in the front and for the hatch.please give me some comments on what im going to replace.thanx

 

Of course it will be faster.Just check out what Hot Rodders did way back in the fourties and early fifties.They removed fenders and other heavy stuff from their '32 Fords..

 

You'll also lighen your wallet faster if you do this type of weight reduction. BTW, what are you doing that you need the car this light for?

 

to put weight reduction in prospective.

I have several friends with 944's and well I had the slowest car in the group. after I gutted the interior I was now hanging with every one else.

then last year around christmass I decided to lighten to the max, fenders, hood, front faring, nose pannel, and a sun roof. my car was now sitting a good 2" above everyone else. My car was now the fastest 944NA in the group. but there were a few bad things that resulted.

1. my suspension changed dramatically with the weight reduction. thus you need to get adjustable coilovers before you do this.

2. I t-boned a truck with the car only one month after I lightened it. so there was only the frame to protect me. hum. im glad that I kept the front bumper steel.

 

i might be entering my car next year in a club race.i gotto sweeten up my car a bit.n/a body with a 951 heart.hehehe
