Post CAI for the 944.

I have a good idea for a CAI for the 944. I was wondering if it would be worth it for me to make a bunch of them and sell them at a really cheap price. Its not just putting a cone on and saying theres an intake. It would really get cool air.

Dude,
I have a CAI on my race car. Very professionaly done!

Got it when I got the car.

It is the factory box!

It actually works quite well on the NA's and has been dyno tested showing that. I know of one 944-spec race that removed a cone filter and replaed it with stock box and OE paper filter to get MORE HP. Believe what you want, but for the NA the stock box works quite nicely.

OK, so who's going to be the first one with enough wallet and nerve to cobble together a cowl induction setup for these NA cars? I'm thinking glass fiber hood with enough of a hump to allow intake from the base of the windshield.

We've got one designed, tested and ready to go!

This works with both Turbos and NAs (raise box & put AFM between box & throttle-body). However, no one has found the costs to justify the gains (0% on the Turbo since engine-bay temps is the same as ambient outside air above 15-20mph).

I think any true CAI would require cutting the hood, a step very few people want to do for some strange reason. I'm having visions of something a little more agressive like a scoop that actually pokes up above the hood...

With a scoop of 3-4 square-feet, we can actually build positive pressure in the box at 150mph+ for real ram-air!

Wow, that is actually pretty neat.

I was thinking more along the lines of something more like cowl induction on a (dare I say it) muscle car. You know, where the scoop actually faces back toward the low pressure point at the base of the windshield.

Quick Reply: CAI for the 944.
