Hey, that's a good idea, though a VW generally be cheaper to maintain.

Yeah,

Manning hit it on the head; one of her desires is for it to be easy to take care of. A 318 could be more of a handful mait. wise than a Scirocco. Of course, if it had been taken care of, and had good records...

Dammit.

It's going to be one of the sportier 80's VWs, I think - she's pretty set on that if it's not going to be a 944 or 24S right now. I've actually got a good lead on a Scirocco (via that vwvortex link posted earlier - thanks!) in Michigan, so I'll let everyone know what happens.

Tom R.

Just in case it did not come across in my post, I was not bashing the Acura. In fact, it WAS a better car than the GTi I chose instead; just not what I wanted in MY car. Some people like chocolate icecream while others like vanilla, but hey it is all good, right?

BTW I used to get a chance every once in a while to drive a friend's '84 RX-7 and yes it was a very fun car to drive.

Best to ya,

Riff,
Im on the same page as you. I've had at least one rx7 at any given time since 84. it was great driving the legend coupe especially in the winter. however, on more than one occasion i let out a great big "whoopee" when i took the rx7 out with the top down after driving the legend for a week or two straight.

then again, there were a few "schweeeet" when driving the legend after driving the rx7 or 944 for a few weeks straight.

even now its nice to get in the aurora after driving the 944. nothing like luxory. then again, nothing like a sports car.

My son has an 83 'Rocco. We call it FrankenRocco since the year designation depends on what part you're looking at. It's stripped down and at the moment weighs in with driver and 1/4 tank at about 2100lbs. Couple that with a warmed up 1.8l SOHC, and it's a rude surprise for those who scoff at its lack of shine or tunes (ever weigh a set of speakers, head unit, amps, and wires??). We are sure that we can get another 100+ lbs off of it by this spring. Go ahead and get one, they have all of the same issues associated with Rabbits and Golfs, meaning- very few. Fun car to drive.
