Rocketing through the Nevada desert on U.S. 50 at 85-100mph on the way home to Kansas.

There is a certain 2-lane highway that winds about 20 miles from Lawrence through Tonganoxie Wonderful scenery, lotsa curves and no cops. The first time I hit it after getting the Konis in was Nirvana.

100+mph on I-70 going from KC to Lawrence to try out guitars at Mass Street Music in late May. You really get treated nice by salesmen when you pull up in one of these.

A warm evening a few weeks ago when I finally figured out how to get the sunroof out.

The one I took Monday night. Although, my ride home last night was pretty good. Nothing special, but I got her tuned where I want it for now, and did 1 full throttle pull in 3rd from 1500-4500rpm. I actually made my CBV work.

I know this is not that exciting to read... but for me, it's huge. It had been so long since I had heard the car run, I acutally forgot what it sounded like.

Had to run a delivery of furniture up to my tenant today too, so maybe that is what was boring - driving a slug of a big truck up there instead of the 951S!

Was supposed to be in TO last month, cancelled that... not because of SARS, but because there was still snow to be skied! Ended up with 107 days on the slopes this season and over 3Million feet vertical.

well, there's always next year.....

Phew just got home! Couldn't make it to Whistler - THE BASTARDS CLOSED THE HIGHWAY ON ME! (Just past Squish)

But what I drive it was up until! No Traffic to speak of on the way there, and only a few stragglers on the way back, which were easily passed!

No crasy unsafe stuff either - I kept it nice and RE-LAXED!

This pic is only TWO hours old!
<img src="http://members.shaw.ca/rsandor/sea2sky.jpg" alt=" - " />

And on the way back, already dark, going through a Police CounterAttack roadblock, the Police officer COMPLIMENTS my europlate! HA! I was afraid he was gonna make me take it off!!!

Also, some guy in a beatup pickup truck with dirt bikes in the back drove by as I was in the Burger King drive through in Squamish - He flashes me a smile with what 4 teeth he has, points to my car and gives a BIG thumbs up! What a nice guy!

Well, I had that drive home from Copenhagen (Denmark) to Trelleborg (Sweden) wich is about 70 km's or so in total and it took less than 45 minutes including a stop to take a leak in the swedish summer morning at 5 am. The only time I was under 250 km/h was by the on/off ramps to the highway. Did an indicated 270 km/h on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden... Average of the whole drive including the stop was 158 km/h..

I had a friend as a passenger and he said: "That's probably the closest to time traveling I'll ever be.."

And then there are those other backside road drives.. Or the 1h 45 min drive home from Gothenborg (300 km distance) at night alone on the highway averaging 170 km/h. That means that you really have to stay well above 220 all of the time.. <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" />

I'll never do that again, not after having had an accident like I had this winter.. But those sure were wild rides.

Some of my favorite drives:
1. Lime Rock, Sept. 14-15, 2001: my first time on the track with my S2. The most fun I ever had with my clothes on!

2. Watkins Glen, Oct. 7-8, 2002: first time I went WOT through the esses and had to grab 5th on the back straight! SCARY FUN!

3. Pocono, April 12-13, 2003 (North course): first time I got the car sideways through the sharp left-hander in the infield. I did save it from spinning.

4. Summit Point, May 19-20, 2003: first time on the track with R-compounds, and the elimination of "street-tire-understeer." So that's what they meant when they said "rotate the car through a turn!"

Pick a track, any track!

I mentioned to my wife that a nice red 944 Turbo / S2 just passed by headed up to Whistler. I was the idiot tearing up the hill in that monster of a moving van - aka the white slug! <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> Stupid thing actually drove pretty well though. Big enough that I could have carried the 951S in the back too!

Let me know when you want another late night / early morning drive up that way - I'll be there. Maybe we get another group of 944/951/968 on the go for breakfast or snacks.

but check for hwy closure times at <a href="http://www.gtmconsulting.com/info/project_updates/ctc.php" target="_blank">http://www.gtmconsulting.com/info/project_updates/ctc.php</a> next time.

Hey Randy, guess what it says when I click on the link?

"This webpage is currently unavailable"

Hahaha

BTW here is the correct url:

<a href="http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bchighways/roadreports/south.htm" target="_blank">http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bchighways/roadreports/south.htm</a>

I went for another 3 hour trip just now. I explored all the roads around North Burnaby, and then drove around Anmore. I think I want to buy a house up there. (Close to where Kevin (Red 996TT) lives.) I tell you, driving over new, smooth, black roads feels soooo nice!

If you're up for a trip tonite, I'll be awake for a good 6 more hours!

Let me know where you wanna go, I'll bring the camera!
