Gauging interest on a possible new product...
I'm trying to gauge the interest of a bolt on kit that does the following:
-Relocate the oil filter (no more messy oil changes and no need for the anti-drain back valve)
-Add 1 quart or more of oil to the system
-Offer better oil cooling
-Offer the ability to take quick and easy oil samples for an extra $10.
-Filter effectively to 1 micron (Most standard oil filters filter to 25-40 microns.)
Initial pricing estimates are around $225-$250. Remember this is an estimate. It could end up being more or less.
Thanks in advance for any responses,
Adrial

Dan,
Me. Within a month I hope. Somewhere on the car.
Dwight(billybones),
It's passive so that it does not matter. The system utilizes 2 filters.
2+2, Maybe I'll have to offer a Mahle filter buy-back program! You may be able to use your collection of Mahle filters. This product is in the beginning stages of development.

It would be something I would definitely add-on down the road. But I would like a setup which will allow me to use my choice of oil filters. So the kit should offer the standard interface for off the shelf filters.

My brother's '84 has a remote oil filter that relocates it to behind the left headlight. Being there though it also means you can't run the intake through that spot, losing the cold air draw from the fender. But I imagine going through the SS lines offers additional cooling, as I don't think the NA cars had a separate oil cooler like the S2 does? I may be wrong my brain may just not be working right at the moment.
I'll try and take a picture of what it looks like tomorrow or something and post it here and you can maybe get some ideas. I have no idea if it was a kit that someone bought or a totally custom job, as I've never seen it besides on his car.
It'll be interesting to see what you come up with on yours!

Great, I'm glad to see some interest.
It will also come pre-tapped for oil pressure/temp gauges with a plug installed when it is sent out to the buyer.
I will have to do some testing first to see if this is an acceptable location to plumb in the gauges. Logically it seems like it will be good for temperature, but I'm unsure if it will work well for pressure.
Once I have a prototype together, I'll keep you guys up to speed with changes in oil temp, oil pressure and oil analysis results.

I though the drag racing and some road racers have kits for that. (My ITS 280Z had a remote filter that screwed right on to the existing oil filter location, I don't remember the name though.) It was a screen with flow alarm and large surface area. (Still very messy to clean the screen.)
