If you still have the original Warranty and Maintenance book, the first page has the same VIN/options tag.

No, the sport koni shocks for the early cars did not have the threaded collar. And just because they have 951 part numbers, this does not mean they were turbo shocks.

The listings I have say 474 is Bilstein shocks...
(but it doesn't mention stabilizers)

My 84 has option code 456 which is "sport shocks and stabilizers"

Try to narrow it down, did the factory offer koni and bilstein upgraded in 83,4,5? I am pretty sure my brother's 84 had bilsteins.

I searched the 12 page list of option codes I have and the word "koni" doesn't appear.. and Bilistein only appears in that 474 option code for shocks only.

I'm 99.9% sure my shocks are original to the car and they are Konis.

ps. Thanks Air

I know for a fact they offered Koni's since '82, I think the option code changed as someone mentioned...474 was the option code in the later years but it was something different for the early cars and also included different sway bars for the early cars

so would you conclude that 456 was konis and bars, and 474 was bilsteins only, or bilsteins and bars?

Can't say with 100% certainty..

but.. there are a couple option codes that specify "sport shocks and bars" and 474 just says 'Bilstein shocks'

Someone mentioned the fordahl's...their car was ordered from the factory with "all the goodies" but the code "030" didn't apply to pre-85.5 944s and thus was not branded such.

Evidence from factory service manuals, PET, etc. would suggest that late base-model 944s were available with option 030.

I outfitted my base model to have 030 for SCCA autox and didn't have any problems doing so.

I think ABS may be tied into the m030 package, but I'm not sure. My car came with ABS so I never bothered to look into it.

There were a few 030 late 944's sold into the US but they were all sold to high profile dealerships that had racing clients that used them. I have seen a few for sell here and there. Like the Rothmans series cars were 030 chasiss, sealed case engines, sunroof delete, no soundproofing, manual windows, lightweight glass, lightweight carpet, NO A/C, etc............

As far as I know this started in '86 and there were only a few each year!

The early cars only had the 456 option which you get put together with the sway bar option, 15" fuch 7 x 8 option, 220 LSD and sport seat option if you wanted but this started adding up on the window sticker and could get expensive! And when your paying that for a Porsche and waiting over a year to get it wouldnt you just spend a few more thousand and get a 911 since that has always been much more of a statement!
