Question Erratic throttle response question

Hi all! I had a problem with my 89 951 S. The other day, the car started fine but soon developed an erratic idle and then died. At first I thought I had flooded it, but there was no smell of gas and the plugs were clean. Soon it started and I was on my merry little way motoring right along on the highway when I suddenly lost power and the car started buckling again. Every time I gave it the gas, the car seemed ready to stall, but if I left it alone, it idled just fine. After inching about 2 miles down the highway (on my friction point!), the car suddenly roared back to life and I managed to get it home. Since then, I've only started it once more, and the same thing happened. First it starts, then sputters and dies. Any ideas? Can it be a fuel pump, MAF, injector, sensor, or some Teutonic gremlins. Thanks in advance guys.

Sounds like the hall effect sensors. I had a similiar problem trying to start my car. Replaced the hall effect sensors and all is good. Never had your problem once the car was running, only on start up.
