Exclamation Pics of My New car!

So, after working my butt off since last July in a warehouse doing manual labor in Compton, Southern California, I finally saved enough money to buy my car. I had wanted a 944 for over a year, until I realized it just was not practical for me (I'm going to be at UCLA next year, and I don't even know how to change the oil). So, I gave a lot of interest into nissan 240sx, but those cars are just so on high demand these days (sport compact car features the 240sx quite frequently nowadays). So, instead of the 944, I went with the e36 325i. Packs quite a punch. The car is a 5spd, has 10 cd changer, amp, and some really big boosters in the back. It has 150k miles, but the car still looks perfect! 189 hp, 181 lbs tq. Check out my pics! Oh yah, I'm still a big 944 fan, and I come browse everyday. This web board is BY FAR the best board I read (the 240 boards and e36 boards are full of immature ricers) Enjoy!

Check out that awesome reflection!

My parents love my car too, especially since I paid for it with my own money

Very nice, a BMW would have been my third choice.

1.- 84-88 Porsche 924/944
2.- 84-96 Corvette
3.- A BMW

What do you think we are?

That's awesome - actually earning your car is by far more rewarding.

Congrats on the car! I know just how proud you feel to know you've earned it. I have been obsessing over the 944 series for almost 2 years now, and I got my car just 2 weeks ago

The car cost 6800, but included new water pump and new radiator (common problems with the early e36, something about how the plastic part seems to like to fail). Really clean inside because it was owned by a girl who goes to UCLA for her PhD. I wanted a 2dr at first, but realized that it would just be more practical to have a 4 dr. The car doesn't have the same sporty feel as the 944 or 240sx, but nonetheless handles well for a 4 door. The weight is not all that bad either, according to edmunds, its only 3012 lbs. Oh yah, how do I manage to get the picture to appear in the actual thread? The uploading instructions just say to copy and paste the web address given.

Click the button labeled Image when you put up a post...its within an inch or 2 below "add reply" under "Instant UBB Code"

Once you see what it does, you can post pics without hitting that button.

I'll be up at UCLA as well in the fall. Transferring in as a junior majoring in Business Econ. All of us going to UCLA on the board should hook up at some point.

The E36 was my second choice in cars but they were still a bit too expensive and many had really high miles. Ones with 5 speeds for sale seem to be almost nonexistant as well. Its a great car my friend has got a '92 325 sedan and its a really fun car for a sedan.

Congrats. Most BMWS are built like M1A2s and feel indestructible with normal upkeep. Ex brother-in-law had an 80s 528e and it must have had 300,000 miles on it. Purred like a kitten and he never took care of it either.

Deutschland knows autos.

Sweet ride man. I want a 5spd e36 325is in September. However, the 4 door "i" is great as well. Is it true that the 4 door handles better and has a stiffer chassis than the 2 door??

Thanks adrial for the help. Its always fun to see your own car while browsing through the threads! Rihaa and Tsw, yah, I can't wait for UCLA come september. I just got my housing assignment, I'll be in Sproul Hall in a triple dorm, nuts.

The 325is with a 5spd is pretty hard to find. Even though I live in the car capital of the world (Los Angeles), I recall that usually the 2dr 5spds would be sold in less then a day. As for my car, I guess it didn't get sold as fast because of the high mileage.

As for the comparisons between the "i" and "is", i have friends that own a e46 2dr and an e46 4 dr. They say that basically, the 2 and 4 door are the same, except the 4 door has a little more weight (i think around 200 or so more lbs at most). According to them, the cars handle the same, while acceleration is just a tad slower in the 4dr. I think if you're stuck between the 2 and 4 dr, to just basically ask yourself whether or not you carry more then 1 passenger a lot, because the 2 drs don't have that much head space. It's better then the 944, and a host of other cars, but its definitely cramped if you have tall friends. But then again, you're not the one sitting in the back!

If you like the sporty image, the 2dr is definitely the way to go. However, if you plan on keeping the 944, I'm not sure you'd need a second "sporty looking" car. Have fun in your decision!
