Post Diagnostic help, please?

Greetings all. I need a little assistance in diagnosing a growl coming from my driver's rear wheel/axle/tranny-side. Here's the sympom: on a hard/left turn, under slight to high torque I get a growl/hum sound emminating from the left (driver's) rear wheel/tire area. My assumptions are:
1. Sub-axle bearings (outer/ inner... not sure)on the left rear axle/wheel assembly.
2. Spider gears in the differencial (Yikes!)

The difficulty in guessing at the rear bearings is that when pulling the sub-axle, the sealed bearings almost aways get mutilated in the removal process, making examination of the bearings tough. If it's the spider gears, the replacement with the tranny in the car is an unknown.

BTW: did I mention that the car has over 200K miles on it, and has been tracked for the last 1.5 years?

Drop me an e-mail to DanoSurf@msn.com or respond here with your thoughts.

Thanks all!!

If it's a hard right turn i would say it's your axle/cv for sure. but you say left, there is no down force on drivers side when you make a left turn.

The axles and CV's are new on both sides. Replaced complete 'dogbone' assemblies about 8 months ago.

Any other ideas?

Been on the track for the last 1.5 yrs. Check the bushing in the rear, soft rubber may allow metal to contact and transmitt smaller noises. Had this problem in my Corrado, it had new bearings, halfshafts and balljoints, then the strut mount took a crap and it sounded like the wheel was coming off. Replaced and problem solved.

[quote]Dano-944: Replaced complete 'dogbone' assemblies...

Might still be, learned here that replacement half shafts often seem to use "rebuilt" CV's. (so, cleaned, inspected and re-packed I expect since I dont know what else can be re-built on these things.)

Also: might want to check the nut on the drivers side stub.
They are mormal threaded (clockwise rotation to tighten) for the both sides.
The nut is an locknut and should be replaced when disassembled.
